Dr. Lund attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Virginia Mason Medical Center and his fellowship in pediatric radiology at the University of Washington Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lund has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.

Stephen Kramp, MD

VICE CHAIR | Stephen Kramp, MD

Physician-Family Medicine, Gig Harbor MultiCare Clinic

Health care is a shared responsibility, and the doctor-patient relationship is a partnership. Working together is the only way Dr. Kramp can practice good medicine and help patients achieve lifelong good health. Dr. Kramp is a board-certified family practice physician, with special interests in mental health care and patients with dementia. Dr. Kramp completed his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame, and then received his medical degree from the University of Washington. He completed his residency at Tacoma General through Tacoma Family Medicine. When Dr. Kramp is not caring for patients he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, woodworking and harvesting honey from his collection of bees.

Calvin A. Kierum, JR., MD

Pediatrician, Co-Owner, Board Member and Medical Director for Community Affairs at Woodcreek Healthcare

Dr. Kierum received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School and has been in practice for 25 years. He completed his pediatric residency at University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics. In addition to his practice and leadership roles at Woodcreek, Dr. Kierum also practices at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and serves on the hospital’s OB Committee.

Pat Bailey

TREASURER | Pat Bailey, RN

Retired RN and current community health team member, City of Auburn

Pat began as an RN and worked in many hospital specialties in 5 states and worked in cities from Boston to Los Angeles. She decided to settle in Washington where she married and had two children while working as a medical surgical instructor and as the Assistant Director of Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing. Pat was also the School and Hospital PR Director for nine years. With a special passion for hospital PR and marketing, she continued that path at Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and branched out into physician recruitment and physician relations for two other Universal Health Service Hospitals in Washington. She completed almost 25 years as an Assistant Administrator of Operations and Physician Recruitment and Relations at ARMC. In 2015, after her retirement, the Mayor of Auburn invited her to join the city of Auburn team to work on Community Health and to make Auburn a healthier community; work that she continues today.

Michael C. Brown, MD

Dr. Brown graduated with honors from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center. He completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Harvard Medical School, Brookline, MA. Dr. Brown practiced at the Urgent Care in Renton and Locums Anesthesiology in Seattle before he went into solo practice. In 1993, he became the founding president of Rainier Anesthesia Associates in Puyallup, Washington. He holds a board certification of Anesthesiology and a certificate of Business Administration, American Society of Anesthesiologists. His leadership experience includes committee chair for Good Samaritan Hospital Anesthesia and subsequently he became the Medical Director. Dr. Brown is currently on several boards to include Northlake Improvement Club, Save Weyerhaeuser Campus Organization, Executive Peer Group and past board member and past president for Seabury School. Dr. Brown’s passions include spending time with his family, leadership, travel and fishing.

David Carlson, DO

Dr. Carlson is a family practice physician focusing on geriatrics. He previously worked for Hospital Sisters Health System as the Chief Physician Executive. He also served as the Chief Medical Officer at Conemaugh Health System and the Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Oschner Medical Center of Baton Rouge. David earned his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and holds an MBA from Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Alex Jackson

Alex Jackson joined MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in 2018 as the Chief Operating Officer until transitioning to the President & COO role in 2020. Jackson brings more than 20 years of progressive health care leadership experience in a variety of roles and settings including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive in both Portland, Oregon, and Spokane. He holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from The University of North Carolina. Outside of work, Alex and his wife have two teenage boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, travel, sports, and exercise.

George S. H. Makari, MD

Medical Director of Pediatric Neurology, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital

Dr. Makari holds board certifications through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with special qualifications in Child Neurology, and Developmental Disabilities; and through the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Makari earned his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and his fellowship in pediatric neurology at the Medical College of Georgia.

Senior Vice President & CFO of MultiCare Health System

Jim has served as Chief Financial Officer at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, California for the last four years. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Finance at St. Joseph Health System in Orange, California and Chief Financial Officer at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, California. He also held leadership positions with Tenet Healthcare and Interhealth Corp. in California between 1990 and 1999. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and was a Certified Public Accountant.

Jim and his wife, Rebecca, have three adult children. He likes to travel, golf and read. Every year, he runs an intense 24-hour relay – called a Ragnar - with 11 men who were on his high school cross country team.

Bill Robertson

Bill Robertson joined MultiCare in 2014. He came from Adventist HealthCare Inc. based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Prior to Adventist, Robertson served as CEO of Shawnee Mission Medical Center near Kansas City, Kansas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Adventist University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. He also was a Certified Public Accountant


MEMBER AT LARGE | Federico Cruz-Uribe, MD, MPH

Vice President of Clinical Affairs, Sea Mar Community Health Centers

Federico Cruz-Uribe did his medical training at the University of Wisconsin receiving his MD and subsequently did OB/GYN residency training at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Receiving an MPH from Tulane University School of Public Health he began a career that led him to manage public health systems in 4 states. Dr. Cruz-Uribe finished his public health career as the director of the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department in 2007 and moved to southern Nicaragua for the next 5 years where he and his wife, Alden, started and managed a diabetes control program called El Centro de Nutricion Comunitario. Their work focused on a group-based model for diabetes care and prevention using both locally trained physicians and community health workers. In 2013, Dr. Cruz-Uribe returned and began working for Sea Mar Community Health Centers as the Vice President of Clinical Affairs. With the advent of the Affordable Care Act, he became responsible for developing and managing Sea Mar’s care management system. Dr. Cruz-Uribe currently represents Sea Mar in the statewide development of the Accountable Communities of Health (ACH). He is currently the chairman of the board for Elevate Health, which is the Pierce County ACH. This ACH is actively working on a pilot project that would implement a Medicaid ACO for the Pierce County region.

Di Zhao, MD, PHD


Nephrologist, Pacific Nephrology Associates

Dr. Zhao was educated at Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China where she graduated in 1993. She served as a Pathology resident for two years before emigrating to the US where she received a Ph. D in Pathology and Neuroscience at Boston University in 2001. Dr. Zhao served a second residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut from 2005 to 2008, then served as a Hospitalist at Bridgeport Hospital the following year. In 2009, she went on to earn her fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, Massachusetts. In August 2011, Dr. Zhao moved to the Pacific Northwest to begin her practice with Pacific Nephrology. Currently she is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. In her spare time, Dr. Zhao enjoys hiking and swimming with her husband and two sons. She also enjoys gourmet cooking.
